UNISON have commissioned The Andrea Adams Consultancy (AAC) to undertake a review of bullying, harassment, discrimination and case work in the East England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST). As you may be aware in 2014 we conducted a similar exercise for London Ambulance Service.UNISON have approached us to undertake this review as they have become increasingly concerned about some behaviours that have been reported to them or through casework they have seen. They want to understand where there may be issues, the exact nature of those concerns, in order that appropriate action can be taken. Are the reported issues contained in a particular area? How widespread are the behaviours? What do staff think would improve things? To this end they have commissioned us as an independent consultancy to facilitate this data collection, analysis and report on findings with recommendations.
Whilst we have been commissioned by UNISON, we are interested in the views of all EEAST staff. So, whilst this communication may have reached you as a Union member, if you think other colleagues who are not UNISON members would be interested in participating then please share this communication with them.
Aim of the review
Our aim is to collect as much data as possible to ensure that the data collection reflects the experiences of as many staff as possible in order that the scale of any issues can be identified and importantly if concerns are raised, that those concerns can be addressed.
The review period will be from Wednesday 16th November 2016 until Friday 6th January 2017. Once we have collected all the data, this will be analysed and a report will be compiled with recommendations.
We appreciate that there may be some concerns about sharing your experiences so we need to be clear about our commitment to protecting the anonymity of respondents and our absolute commitment to confidentiality. We guarantee that no one who participants in the review will be identified either by name or by incident. We are interested in looking at themes and patterns and this is how we will be reporting.
How you can get involved:
1. Participate in an online survey
The online survey will launch on the 16th November 2016 at 9am. You can access it by either clicking on the link https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/FQWHSNJ or by copying and pasting to your internet browser.
We are also providing a manual version of the survey to UNISON for those who wish to participate but are unable to do so online. Please contact your UNISON County lead rep if you want to participate in this way. The reps will let you know how to return your survey and they will then ensure manual responses get to us.
The survey will close at 5pm on the 6th January 2017. We will provide updates along the review period in terms of how many responses have been received to date.
2. Attend a Focus Group
If you would be interested in attending a Focus Group, we are asking you to express your interest in doing so in the designated locations on the specified dates by completing a separate Expressions of Interest survey.

We will also ask you in the survey whether you would prefer to attend in all grade sessions or whether you would prefer to attend discreet sessions for staff and senior management.
If there is insufficient interest, the Focus Groups will not run and will be replaced by 1-2-1 sessions.
3. Speak 1-2-1 with us either by phone or at designated locations on specific dates (to be agreed)

4. Casework Review
We will be looking at available data on casework for example, the time taken to conclude processes. To be clear we will not be ‘investigating’ allegations but will rather ‘report’ based on objective analysis. If you have been involved in a grievance or dignity at work complaint, either raising it, or responding and would like to share your thoughts, please contact us via email@example.com or complete the appropriate section on the Expressions of Interest survey.
Just to reiterate any contact made with individuals will be absolutely confidential and no one will be identified in any reporting either by name or incident.
