NQP and Student Paramedic update

Thank you to everyone who’s taken part in the vote over the negotiated proposal for NQPs and Student Paramedics.

If you missed the details of the negotiated proposal, you can read the details here: https://putbacktheheart.com/band-6-consultation/

We will be closing the vote very soon and feeding back to the Trust by early November.

Nationally there has been some movement, following the update on 1st September (https://putbacktheheart.com/2017/09/03/nqp-update/). Employers side have now acknowledged that they need to address the retrospective application of the NQP role.

It’s our view that this national position is more beneficial than the offer from the Trust for those staff caught in the NQP programme between 1st September 2016 and the end of March 2017, and this national change must be in additional to the local proposal.

UNISON believes that our NQPs are not being supported and many of you have provided evidence that you are carrying out a comparable role to band 6 Paramedics. For that reason we are supporting all NQPs with a review of the NQP Job Description: https://putbacktheheart.com/2017/09/03/nqp-update/

We will continue to update you over both the local and national changes as they happen. We appreciate the delays and frustrations that our NQPs are feeling about band 6 progression and lack of support – we’re doing all we can to get you the best possible outcome, as soon as we can.

Kind Regards,

Fraer Stevenson
UNISON Branch Secretary
East of England Ambulance Branch 20106
